This week we continue to work in stations. Players will work on various scenarios we have been working on, ground balls, scoring, defense, and competing!

SHOOTING PRINCIPLES

PASSING THE BALL

    PRINCIPLES

    Keep Hands in a comfortable position with the stick slightly vertical

    Drive off your back foot, transferring weight to front

    Release your top hand, think about driving your control Hand knuckles into the ground

    Change Planes - Stick head stays high, but shoot low, is very hard for a goalie to track and save

SNAKE SHOOTING

  • Inside scoring drill, and fashioning the ball!

    SET UP

    Put the players and balls in a single line right below goal line on one side of the net. The players want to run in front of the cage, keeping their stick vertical, and finish high to low! After a player shoots, they keeping running around cage and get back in line

ZOMBIE TAG

  • This is a fun game for teamwork and stick handling!

    SET UP

    Every player has a ball, and create a small sided field (use cones if needed). The coached are the zombies, and walk around like so! The players must run and cradle to avoid coach. If a player is tagged by a coach, they freeze. Their teammates can unfreeze them by rolling a ball through their teammates leg, and scooping it back up!

    PROGRESSIONS - Add in if a player drops their ball while cradling, they are now frozen

  • This is a fun Groundball drill that engages competition and scoring!

    SET UP

    Put players in two groups, for more reps. Set players up in 4 lines on the midfield. The first 4 players are up, coach rolls 2 balls in and its live. If you scoop a ground ball, go to the goal. If you don’t get a GB, chase and play defense!

  • Use this drill to add in more competition where the players can now focus on ground balls & shooting

    SET UP

    Split group up unto 2 teams. Set up 2 goals, on both sides of the cage. If you only have 1 goal, that’s fine, coaches must keep count how many each team scores. Put all the balls in a general area on the ground, about 10 yards away. On coaches whistle, the first player in line for each team, has to scoop a ball, and go score. After they shoot, they must tag their next teammate In line to go, like a relay race. The team with the most goals, wins. Play until the balls run out. You can do best of 3 or 5 games, they will enjoy this!

  • SET UP

    Set up 4 lines around the cage, 2 on GLE and 2 on high wings. Players will cut diagonal to each line for a shot. The emphasis here is cutting with our sticks up for a target and finishing the back of the net. Add in fakes and quick sticks for more advanced U14 Players

  • This is a small sided game that allows players on the inside to use outside teammate for support and outlets.

    SET UP

    Set up a small field game with goals about 20 yards away. Line a team on each side of the field, with a coach present. Inside the field, is a 2v2. It starts by coach rolling the ball in for a live 2v2 GB. The players inside must make at least 1 pass to a support teammate before they can go the the goal. Players on the sidelines should help keep the ball in play when bad or missed passes happen OR Can be used for Give and Go’s. On whistles, coaches will throw another ball in a new 2v2 will com on to the field.

SIXES GAME

  • Full field gameplay

    SET UP

    Bring the goals up to retaining boxes and split the teams into 2 groups, play 5V5 with a Goalie (6v6). Start with a face off, and play until a goal is scored. There are no additional face-offs, if a goal is scored, team clear it. If there is a shot out of bounds, it goes to the defensive team. Players sub on the fly like hockey.
